The editors of this book have arranged a comprehensive volume on pediatric cardiology with chapters contributed by over 70 authors who are well known in the field of pediatric cardiology. Although the book does contain some new and previously unpublished material, its greatest merit is that it is a well organized and well referenced volume which covers the major aspects of heart disease in children. The book is broadly divided into six major parts plus an appendix.
The first part pertains to the introductory subjects such as incidence, etiology, genetics, embryology, and physiologic variations of circulation in the newborn period. There are also special sections on diagnostic procedures which are excellent references for any physician interested in the methodology and interpretation of electrocardiography, vectorcardiography, phonocardiography, radiologic examination of the heart, and cardiac catheterization.
