Orthopaedic Surgery in Infancy And Childhood FREE

In reviewing a text which is in its third edition, it must be recognized that the book has been a success and is filling a need in orthopaedic literature. This edition, with 704 pages and 679 illustrations, compared to 650 pages and 646 illustrations in the second edition, is primarily for the practicing orthopedic surgeon and orthopaedic resident, as it goes into depth and detail in the diagnosis and treatment of most children's orthopaedic problems and can be used as a reference for specific conditions. Particularly pleasing is the new material which the author states in his preface extends "from aids to laboratory diagnosis to the development of new surgical procedures." Dividing chapter 9, "Affections of the Skeleton" of the second edition into two chapters, "Epiphyseal, Metaphyseal and Diaphyseal Affections" and "Metabolic and Generalized Orthopaedic Affections," is definitely an improvement. The new chapter on "Congenital Orthopaedic Conditions" is well done.
