ALTHOUGH infections of the maternal genital tract by Candida are a common occurrence in pregnancy, infections of the fetus by these organisms have only infrequently been reported. In the present paper an additional case will be described and will be compared with the few instances to be found in the literature.

Report of a Case  Clinical History.—This 38-year-old mother was a white gravida 2, para 1, whose only child, aged 15, was living and well. From her obstetric history it appeared that no contraceptive measures of any type had been used throughout her married life. The possibility of pregnancy was not considered when she came to see her practitioner, who thought that her complaints were due to the onset of the menopause. She was given injections of estrogens, but she was eventually seen by an obstetrician who estimated the date of delivery as being the end of April 1967.
