In keeping with a previous practice of one edition every five to six years, Dr. Caffey's classic textbook of Pediatric X-Ray Diagnosis has been issued recently in its fifth edition.
The revision has been carried out in cooperation with Dr. Frederick N. Silverman, Children's Hospital, Cincinnati, who has contributed mainly (although obviously not exclusively) with a rewriting of the section on the urinary tract and reproductive system. The book has gained considerably from his collaboration, and the reader should be pleased to learn that "in future editions, Dr. Silverman plans to take on much wider responsibilities in other parts of the book as well."
The book has remained basically unchanged in its scope, organization, merits, and limitations. Its greatest merits continue to be the special emphasis placed throughout on the normal anatomy and variants, and the constantly lucid description not only of the basic radiographic findings but often also of
