Even if pediatric ophthalmology were not emerging as an entity of its own, this book makes a substantial general contribution to ophthalmology since most of us see children at one time or another. Examination of the pediatric patient utilizes the same tools as adult ophthalmology, but is very different in many respects. The ophthalmology staff of the Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, has done a fine job of combining sound ophthalmology with good pediatric practice, thereby making a significant contribution to the medical literature of both specialties.
