ABSTRACT

To the Editor: I read your editorial answering the letter of Dr. Kenneth Hall in the June issue of the JOURNAL. As a radiologist, I feel that I should correct your statements in the reply.

The radiologist does not reverse PA films. The radiographs are taken in a PA projection as a routine, but when placed in the viewing box or reproduced, the cardiac silhouette will appear on the left side of the films or the picture. The technique of taking a radiograph has nothing to do with the way they are examined. In similar ways, one photographic slide is "projected" in a manner that one can see the picture as it is in front of the eyes, and not the way the object or subjects are reflected within the camera.
