This is a comprehensive textbook of pediatric nursing written by a registered nurse, instructor for practical nurses. The author draws heavily on recognized medical and nursing texts and presents her material in a clear, easily read manner. The book is divided into sections according to age levels from the newborn period, including prematurity, through adolescence. Each section covers growth and development, nutrition and health care as well as a large variety of medical and surgical diseases, their treatment and nursing care. A vocabulary of terms, a bibliography, and suggested questions for study are included with each chapter. Over 100 illustrations of sick and well children, of procedures such as restraints and collection of urine specimens, and of anatomical diagrams add to the presentation of material.
