Any physician who reads this book thoroughly will have a broad background indeed in the field of current pediatrics. Browsing will be pleasureable and profitable. Also, the volume is well indexed, serving readily for quick reference and as a very good point at which to begin research on any particular topic.
Not only does the book contain abstracts from the leading pediatric journals in America, but one finds reference to obscure foreign and domestic journals that only the most diligent reader would be likely to read. The abstracts are concise, well written, and represent the main points and ideas found in the originals.
The thing that really sets the volume apart, however, is the editorial comments of Dr. Gellis and those who are invited to join him. Always thoughtful and erudite, they are sometimes delightful.
