To the Editor: As one whose name is listed as an author of the paper, Bacterial Interference: Protection of Adults Against Nasal Staphylococcus Aureus Infection After Colonization With a Heterologous S Aureus Strain, which appeared in the Journal in September, 1964, p 252, I wish to make the following statement a matter of record.
I saw the earlier manuscript referred to by Dr. Goddard and gave my tentative approval for its publication before it was realized that an extensive review of the data and revision of the paper would be necessary. The publication was to be in another journal and included proper authorship and credit to the Communicable Disease Center.
I was never informed that the paper was to be published in the American Journal of Diseases of Children; that the authorship was to be changed; or that the credit to Communicable Disease Center for sponsorship was to be omitted.
