This small handbook presents numerous helpful tips for newly diagnosed diabetic children and makes a commendable effort to start the patient with healthy positive attitudes towards his disease. In an attempt to cover many exigencies which the individual diabetic may or may not meet, the booklet may cause some confusion in the minds of the child who already is having to learn much under the emotion-packed tension of his recently made diagnosis. Of greater concern to this reviewer is the fact that the manual conveys the impression that dire consequences will occur if the patient were to have significant amounts of glucosuria and that acetonuria and ketosis may result from dietary indiscretion.
