To the Editor: In reply to Dr. Chan's query of Oct 16, 1964, the following information is hereby presented. Blood grouping was performed initially by using typing antisera versus the patient's washed cells. His blood groups were confirmed following remission at which time he was Coombs' negative. Auto-agglutination occurred only when the patient's cells and serum were both present in the test tube. Washed cells were not agglutinated and could be caused to agglutinate specifically by the addition of anti-gamma Coombs' serum.
There is one minor point which deserves correction however. Although the blood grouping is correct, the arrangement of the lettering in the patient's Rh typing should read: CDe/cDE instead of CDE/cde. Authors' error.
