ABSTRACT

To the Editor: The article in your May, 1964 issue, by Rajasuriya et al on "Parathyroid Adenomas in Childhood," was of personal interest to me, and was read with pleasure. For the sake of the record, several errors, attributable no doubt to difficulty of access in Ceylon to original sources in American medical literature, should be corrected.

The authors cite a report by Lee, McElhinney, and Gall (Arch Surg 71:475, 1955) but apparently obtained the reference from some subsequent article in which it may have been quoted, and did not have an opportunity to review the original. On page 443 of their paper, the authors credit this report to the Mayo Clinic. That distinguished institution hardly needs supplementation of its many contributions to the literature, however well intentioned, and it is appropriate to note, therefore, that the report emanated from the University of Cincinnati, with which I was then associated.
