To the Editor: I would like to comment about the article "Preschool Child's Response to Death of Infant Sibling" which appeared in the Journal (106:564-567, 1963) written by Weston and Irwin.
I would agree with much that was written but I should like to take exception to the remarks made in the next to the last paragraph pertaining to the sending of a bill to the bereaved parents. The decision about sending a bill cannot be made without a great deal of thought. In my experience over a period of 35 years in practice I find that most parents resent being sent a bill and feel that an extra burden has been added to their sorrow. By carefully evaluating the reaction and the financial conditions of the parents will I render or not render a bill. When I do render a bill I will frequently communicate with the parents explaining
