ABSTRACT

It is difficult to make technically good roentgenograms of infants and children. Satisfactory methods have been developed in some departments but are not widely known. Consequently, an undue proportion of the films of infants and children obtained in many otherwise excellent departments of radiology are of such poor quality that reliable interpretations are impossible. There has been a real need for an explicit guide to radiography of infants and children; Dr. Darling's new book fulfills that need admirably.

The heart of Dr. Darling's book is a detailed atlas presentation of the methods by which the important radiographic projections are obtained at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. The verbal description of each projection is supplemented by a photograph showing the patient immobilized in the correct position and a reproduction of the resultant radiograph. Separate chapters are devoted to the methods which are used when dealing with infants and the methods
