This brief note describes a technique for installation of the Crosby-Kugler intestinal luminal biopsy capsule1 in infants. In adults the capsule and its attached tubing are introduced by mouth. The patient must assist in swallowing the apparatus. In infants, however, no voluntary cooperation is to be expected. Attempting to force the tube down through the mouth will only kink and fracture the tubing. The diameter of the capsule prevents its introduction through the nose. The technique described here permits installation of the device in an uncooperative patient and leaves it in situ as a nasogastric tube.

Apparatus Required  The apparatus required is as follows: (a) Crosby Kugler biopsy capsule (pediatrie size 0.8X1.7 cm.) and attached No. 200 polyethylene tubing; (b) an additional 30-40 cm. length of No. 200 polyethylene tubing; (c) a "connector" consisting of a 1 cm. length of the shaft of a 17-gauge needle (this size needle fits tightly
