ABSTRACT

This book contains the papers presented at the conference of the Association for Research in Nervous and Mental Disease held in December, 1959, and is divided into 6 main sections : The Developmental Process, Genetics, Prenatal Defects, Neonatal Injuries, Environmental Deprivation, and Treatment.

There is considerable heterogeneity as a result of publishing everything presented at the meeting. Some sections of the report are excellent and worth the attention of the reader. Others add very little or seem irrelevant, still others only create confusion and perpetuate misconceptions. In addition, some important areas are not covered at all or are given too little space.
