ABSTRACT

To the Editor: I see you are advocating "Pediatrie Tithing." I agree ! One thing that disturbs me in a general hospital setup is that ideal times for pediatricians to tithe are usually locked up by other groups, etc. Committee serving is indeed a pleasure and a necessity until you find that "Parkinson's Law" and the clerks and pencil pushers have turned everything into a bedlam. When secretaries and administrative assistants (sans M.D. degrees) begin to push the workers about and the drones begin to control the hive, and when more and more money goes into paper and ink and less and less into nursing services, lab facilities, and patient care—then the "tither" gets discouraged and says, "O.K., let George do it." But I agree with you and have gotten most from my hospital when I put most into it and, by and large, most from the intern to whom
