ABSTRACT

The first edition a bare 5 years old, the author of this treatise on children and their skin has brought forth a revision which should be even more useful than the original. It continues to be a very personal text—one can easily sense the author's devotion to his cause and to getting his points across. For example, in the preface, he cites and challenges effectively critical comments directed at the original. To those who pleaded for more references, the author replies with disarming frankness, "I am still not persuaded that a greater sprinkling of references would be a significant improvement. I am afraid it would vitiate other values. It is easy enough for anyone to cull indices of recent literature and come up with a list that looks scholarly."
