Arthur Lipschutz, M.D., Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital, Philadelphia: An adjuvant-type killed virus measles vaccine has been administered to 175 children residing in the Philadelphia Municipal Reception and Welfare Center under the supervision of the Pediatric Department, Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital.
Beginning in June, 1960, all resident children 6 months to 6 years of age have been given 3 monthly 1 cc. intramuscular doses of vaccine. Transient children have not been immunized.
Vaccines were equally divided between the Reception Center for children between 6 months to 3 years of age and the Welfare Center for children over 3 years of age.
Preimmune bleedings were obtained on most children and postimmunization blood samples were also obtained 1 month after the third dose of vaccine.
