Solitary diverticulum of the descending colon in a child appears to be sufficiently rare to warrant publication; it has not been possible to find a similar case in the literature. This case is even more unusual in that an accurate diagnosis was made on clinical grounds alone by the patient's general practitioner, Dr. S. Dobson, of Kirkby, Liverpool.

Report of a Case  A boy aged 12 years was admitted to the hospital on November 25, 1958, with a history of colicky abdominal pain, bilious vomiting, and constipation for 24 hours. Examination revealed that the abdomen was rather distended and that there was a firm, round, laterally mobile tumor, of about the size of a duck's egg, in the left hypochondrium.There was a history of several previous similar attacks since the age of 3 years, for which the child had had 3 hospital admissions. In 1951, appendectomy was performed. The
