Wheat Versus Chaff

The selection of the best items in medical communication is a grave responsibility. To be worth its salt a medical journal must successfully defend its readers against scientific work of poor quality and against poor medical writing. At the same time it must not stifle new and unusual ideas simply because they do not hold to tradition. The exercise of selection of manuscripts for this journal is largely in hands of the Editorial Board. Every manuscript is reviewed by some members of the Board. No Editorial Board can be chosen, however, whose members are experts in all areas of pediatrics. We consequently often ask our friends who are authorities in special subjects for critical evaluation of manuscripts. Without exception they respond with enthusiasm and with a clarity of analysis which indicates the great amount of time and thought they undoubtedly spend in this task. The Editors' names appear on the
