This is a delightful little book with an excellent approach to the problem of recurring abdominal pain in children.
The author outlines the method of investigation in attempting to explain recurring abdominal pain and reports the findings in a reasonably large series of cases. He has excellent follow-up data for five years in the analyzed series and controls. He also gives follow-up data on a number of his private patients for periods up to 20 years.
The term "psychogenic abdominal pain" which has been used by others is not mentioned by the author although his main thesis is that many children have recurring abdominal pain without evidence of a "physical disturbance" to account for it.
