ABSTRACT

The author has attempted to simplify the management of a condition which often needs more careful study than it sometimes receives.

The asthmatic child and his family are discussed as a unit, and the importance of parental understanding and cooperation is stressed. The associated problems of childhood asthma are described, and the various important etiological factors are outlined. The step-by-step approach in making a specific etiological diagnosis is detailed in the discussion of hypothetical cases.

Treatment of the asthmatic attack is discussed in the light of most modern methods, and prophylactic and hyposensitization measures are outlined for the reader.

This small book is recommended to all physicians who treat children.
