This book represents a complete revision of its predecessor editions. The first was published in 1927 and the second in 1935. The original was written by Dr. Lydia J. Roberts and will be remembered as one of the foremost books in the field of nutrition of the child. The present revision was written by Mrs. Ethel Austin Martin, who was formerly an associate of Dr. Roberts as a member of the staff of the Department of Home Economics at the University of Chicago. Mrs. Martin had subsequent experience as Director of Nutrition for the National Dairy Council and as the director of a school nutrition-health program in Akron, Ohio. She has had intimate contact with the practical aspects of a school health program and with teaching materials dealing with nutrition. This is apparent throughout the text.
