ABSTRACT

This manual of BCG vaccination is published under the auspices of the International Children's Center, situated in Paris. It attempts to present as simply and as practically as possible the conditions under which one may obtain the best results with BCG vaccination. As stated in the foreword by Professor Debré, Dr. Mande has not only worked at the pilot station of the International Children's Center, but has also worked in the field in France, as well as in North Africa. In his "Introduction" chapter, the author reviews some of the well-known studies on BCG vaccination. From these studies as well as his own, he concludes that BCG is harmless and that it confers a degree of protection against superinfection with virulent tubercle bacilli.
