To the Editor In the November issue of this journal, Smallwood and coworkers1 reported that playing active video games using Kinect for the Xbox 360 (Microsoft) is an effective means for increasing physical activity and energy expenditure in children. Smallwood et al observed that the active video games increased energy expenditure up to 172 kcal/h compared with traditional sedentary video game play. They argued that the effect on weight of daily Kinect Sports Boxing play in place of sedentary game play could be up to 0.3 kg per week.
