This is a complete textbook on hematology written from the viewpoint that hematology is a part of internal medicine rather than a specialty. It therefore contains much of clinical interest, and controversial questions that would be of interest only to the specialist have been kept at a minimum. It contains a chapter on "Whole Blood and Blood Derivatives" by Elmer L. DeGowin, M.D., which should be of particular interest to the returning medical officer.
The bibliography is adequate and, being contained at the end of each chapter, does not clutter up the text. This should be an interesting volume for the student or practitioner.
