ABSTRACT

In this book of 188 pages is contained subject matter of inestimable value to parents and lay persons responsible for child care. It answers most of the questions that relatives ask the physician, especially about quarantine and the reasons for quarantine. Hints on home nursing are given, and such diseases as scarlet fever, measles, whooping cough, rabies, poliomyelitis, colds, itch, tuberculosis and those occurring in the tropics are discussed or at least referred to. The author also stresses immunization against diphtheria and vaccination against smallpox. The text clarifies many misconceptions about disease. It is a small book, which can be easily read and understood by most parents. It is an ideal book for the physician to recommend to his patients, a book with which he should be familiar and which he should have on his shelves.
