Since the first edition, in 1940, many important developments in urologic diagnosis and treatment have occurred, and these are given careful consideration in this second edition. For example, the use of sulfonamide compounds and of penicillin in the treatment of infections of the urinary tract has been included. Recent developments in the treatment of cancer of the prostate are discussed.
