The first part of this book deals with the problems of infant feeding and the disturbances of digestion. Considerable space is given to breast feeding and methods for stimulating the breasts. This is much more detailed and minute than is ever given in similar textbooks in English. The last part of the book discusses the methods by which a state or country can best organize a program for infant care. The illustrations of some of the clinics and hospitals, such as the Abrigo Maternal da Baia and the Pupilheira Juracy Magnalhaes, show that our southern neighbors have nothing to learn from us in beautiful and spacious buildings. Any one interested in child welfare will find this book extremely interesting; and its perusal leaves the reader just a little envious of the breadth of understanding of the Brazilian people.
