This book, written by a lay person but one who had the wisdom to consult an excellent pediatrician, should be of much use to any young mother with her first or later baby. It contains minute instructions on many useful matters, and if the advice is heeded it should in most instances remove a great deal of fear of consequences from such trivial things as thumb sucking. The book is well written and is attractively printed and illustrated. It has many useful items in it not to be found in the ordinary book, such as recipes for making special dishes, outlines of diets for a long period, vitamin content of foods and at the end of the book a record section, which is most complete. It is a book which should be most useful to the laity and might be read with profit by physicians.
