It is hard for a pediatrician to evaluate this book. One can certainly say that the subject is one which should be discussed by pediatricians. One may also say that this is a fine discussion of the subject and that there is much in it which should be of value to any pediatrician, especially to one who has much to do with premature infants. The trouble is not with the book but with the pediatrician, who has not thought in embryologic terms and therefore may find himself confused in reading some of the text. However, thanks are due Dr. Windle for bringing out a book on a long-neglected subject. The book is well written and well annotated; the chapters on the nervous system especially are highly commendable. It is to be hoped that this book will stimulate others to make investigations along this line.
