Few parasitologic surveys have been carried out in Canada. Porter1 and Fantham and Porter2 made a survey of human intestinal parasites in Montreal, and Brooks3 examined stools of 61 persons in Newfoundland. Miller4 carried out a survey of intestinal parasites of 254 persons in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. His survey included 47 children and young adults in an orphan asylum. These surveys were made by examining fecal samples and yielded mainly protozoa. Fantham and Porter, however, in examining the stools of 563 persons, disclosed both protozoa and helminths.
The present report presents the results of a survey of intestinal parasites of children in Toronto, carried out during the winter of 1938 to 1939.
