ABSTRACT

This well known text has been entirely revised and rewritten. With the collaboration of a junior author, Dr. Cabot has departed from his previous policy of discussing only the methods with which he has had personal experience. The present edition has been elaborated with the help of many members of the staff of the Massachusetts General Hospital and is to a considerable extent the work of a group. With the original arrangement as a basis, new chapters and sections and a great deal of new material has been added, the number of pages having been increased by 50 per cent. The illustrations, mostly new, are numerous and well chosen; they are clearer because of the glossier paper used in this edition.

Among the chief innovations is a well written chapter on taking the history. This book now contains one of the most inclusive discussions of physical diagnosis in English. Yet
