ABSTRACT

This little volume presents Dr. Scroggie's personal study of tuberculosis in the Hospital Del Rio, Santiago, Chile, of which he is chief of the pediatric section. The etiology of the disease is of interest. From a study of the source of infection of 520 children with tuberculosis, it was found that the mother was tuberculous in 44 per cent of the cases, the father in 25 per cent, brothers or sisters in 3 per cent, relatives in 6 per cent and both parents in 20 per cent.

The pathology of the various types of lesion is well illustrated by appropriate drawings and by corresponding roentgenograms of patients with typical forms. Although written in Spanish, this book will be of value to those in other countries who are interested in tuberculosis.
