In the preparation of an antibody concentrate of a serum, it is the globulins which are utilized, since the antibodies either are globulins or seem to be exclusively associated with this fraction of the blood serum. McKhann and Chu1 applied this knowledge to the human placenta. They separated the globulins from human placenta and found them to be effective in the prophylaxis of measles. In work previously reported I attempted to show that the globulin fraction of immune human adult blood serum is effective in prophylaxis against measles. The following is a summary of the method used in the earlier work:

The globulins were precipitated from a batch of pooled serum, and after dialysis the precipitate was taken up in a physiologic solution of sodium chloride. Merthiolate was added in the proportion of 1:7,500. The volume of the solution was brought up to the volume of the original serum
