PHYSICAL DIAGNOSIS.

This is the tenth edition of a well known textbook on physical diagnosis. Many conditions representative of childhood are described, and much of the text is applicable to patients of that age group. Two hundred and seventy-five photographs, charts and tables are included to illustrate the methods of examination, depict pathologic conditions described and render more easy the interpretation of some parts of the text.

The material incorporated in the book is largely the result of the author's experience. He draws freely on the clinical and pathologic records of the Massachusetts General Hospital in support of his statements, although citing the results and opinions of others when the occasion warrants. He endeavors to confine his diagnoses within the limits of what he might reasonably expect to find at necropsy. For example, he refrains from diagnosing mitral regurgitation as an early lesion in rheumatic endocarditis, or emphysema as a necessary accompaniment
